One day Maui and his brothers went fishing so they waited until the sun rose. When the sun rose, they went fishing and threw their nets into the sea and the sun set again.
Now Maui was angry at the sun and he decided to slow that sun down, because he never had enough time to fish. His brothers agreed with him as well, so they got some big flax and made it into a long rope and put all the rope together to make a big strong net.
Maui and his brothers went to the sun’s cave and put the net over the cave and waited until the sun woke up and came out. When the sun awoke it got stuck in the net straight away. Maui took out his weapon which was a magic jawbone and hit it at the sun and the sun promised him to go slow every day. Now every day the sun goes slow.

“Get up! Chen Wei! We need to hurry so we can go somewhere fun to play”, said Dad. So I got up and had my breakfast. When I finish my breakfast, I went and sat in the car. I was waiting in the car for my Dad to come out and lock the door, and we’re ready to go!
First we were going to Hunters Plaza, then we went to Rainbows End, later we went to the bungy. At the bungy there were lots of people and we were waiting a long time until it was our turn to jump. When it was my turn, I was a little bit scared, because it was so high that I couldn’t jump, but I still had to jump. Then I jumped down and I closed my eyes and I thought I was going to die, so I yelled out loud, as loud as I could, the people on the boat caught me and got me down from the rope. I went back to the top and I was saved. I was embarrassed that I yelled so loud.
When my family all had a turn, we went in the car and drive home. I am never going on the bungy again.

My family treasure is a bracelet. The bracelet belonged to my Grandmother, and she gave it to my Mum, because she is my Grandmother’s favourite daughter.
The bracelet is made out of bronze. It had been weared on my Mum’s wrist for years, and the bracelet is old but it still looks new and never get dirty. The bracelet looks new like a new bracelet. It never gets dirty when my Mum goes shopping with my dad. It is green and white because they are my Grandmothers favourite colours.
My Mum told me not to give it away to anyone because it is a very important, precious bracelet in our family. My Mum is going to keep it on her wrist for the whole year. Hopefully one day I will be able to look after my Mum’s bracelet.

Art Learning Story
Because of book fortnight, for art we had to focus on Maori Myths and Legends. We made a mask of a Maori woman with a moko.
First we drew the face on the mask, then we painted the skin, hair, eyes, ears, moko, eyebrows, mouth and nose.
When we finished the painting, we choose some feathers to put on our masks, then we cut out a flower and stapled it onto the mask and we glued the glitter on it.

Swimming Learning Story
This term the year 3, 4, 5 and 6 were lucky to have free swimming lessons for 5 weeks, I felt nervous on the first day.
Every Wednesday we had one swimming lesson and our instructors were Anthony and Caz. The pools were in Papatoetoe.
During my swimming lessons, I learnt how to float like a starfish on my tummy and my back and I learnt how to glide and blow bubbles.
When I had all those lessons, I felt more confident. Next time I want to improve on gliding.

Art Learning Story
In our art session we made a model called a Tibetan female by using a clay. I learnt that when you’re using a clay don’t fiddle with it or it will dry out.
We started by smashing the clay into a cube, after we cut it into 5 different pieces, 2 big pieces, 2 medium pieces and 1 small piece.
I learnt how to model the clay into different body pieces, like the knee so it can kneel on something.
I enjoyed rolling the clay flat so I could draw on it.
I found modeling it into a pot hard because I have small hands and Have to poke my hands in the pot.
Next time, I want to improve on modeling the clay into a pot.

Animals Should Not Be Kept In Zoos Animals should not be kept in zoos for a lot of reasons. Animals should not be taken out of their natural habitat, they should not be taken out of their family and they should not be taken back to their natural home and be free. Firstly, animals should not be kept in zoos because they’ve been taken out of their natural habitat and don’t get to hunt for themselves. Secondly, animals should not be taken from their family and home because they have to look after each other and they will miss them. Thirdly, animals should be taken back to their natural habitat because they can hunt by themselves and run around their natural habitat. Imagine if you were in the zoo with lots of room and people poked at you and teased you. Animals should not be taken out of their natural habitat, taken out from their family and should be taken back to their natural habitat.
